Stillness is the Key

Hi Reader,

It is no secret that these past two years have been hard for all of us. I have been taking some time to reflect and think back at all that has happened and it quickly becomes overwhelming. As many of you, I have been struggling with concentration and that overwhelming feeling of what to do next.

This coming week, I will be taking a ā€œpersonal retreatā€ to reflect, plan, and have clarity for what is coming next year. When I say personal retreat, I mean working on all of these while the kids sleep šŸ˜‚. Also, my wife and I like to have a family board meeting (podcast episode about this coming soon) right at the end of the year.

This meeting is to talk about our family goals and what we would like to do in the next year. We cover everything from spiritual to finance goals and it is a great way to get everyone on the same page as well as close any open loops. If you have a significant other this is a must and I hope the episode we are recording together will help you. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about this.

Take this last week to think more than you consume. I will be taking the week completely off social media and email to have some stillness. I hope this quiet time will help me regain the concentration and focus I lost in the past month or so. It is so important to take the time to reflect and review what you did and plan for what is next so don’t procrastinate on this until you are feeling overwhelmed and behind on your goals.

Finally, like I mentioned in last week's email, I am creating a set of services to help students and young professionals like you in their careers. If you want to be part of the creation process, let me know here.

Last but not least, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Let’s continue Engineering our Future,

Luis

Hey Reader, The end of the year is a great time to reflect on the past year and review your progress. It’s an opportunity to celebrate accomplishments, recognize challenges, and plan for the future. Taking a moment to look back on the year can be incredibly beneficial as it can help you to put things into perspective, gain clarity and make more informed decisions for the future. My wife and I wanted to make it even easier to review the past year, so we decided to come up with a list of key...

Hi Reader, For over four months, I have been working on consolidating what I learned when I took the PE Exam. It has been fun to go back and see at what I learned and how I studied. Today, I am launching a course to help you prepare for the exam. It includes the tools and strategies that I personally used to prepare for the exam. Today I simply wanted to share one of the lessons on time-management from the course. This is just a glimpse into what the whole course covers. When you sign up for...

Hi Reader, Over the last couple of weeks I have been spending a lot of time with family and really thinking about what is next for Engineering our Future. But I know I don’t need to tell you that the end of the year is a great time to really dive deep into what you want for the new year. These are a few things I really want to work on personally, and I hope this list gives you an idea or two to incorporate in your own routine: Read two books per month Workout 4x per week No phone before 8 am...
