Hi Reader,
Over the last couple of weeks I have been spending a lot of time with family and really thinking about what is next for Engineering our Future. But I know I don’t need to tell you that the end of the year is a great time to really dive deep into what you want for the new year.
These are a few things I really want to work on personally, and I hope this list gives you an idea or two to incorporate in your own routine:
I have slowly worked on adding these habits so when the new year comes around I can really dive deep and make sure I have the right mindset.
I also wanted to share with you that I am going to be launching some services that I hope will be helpful to a lot of students and young professionals. As of right now, I plan to start with these session options: resume/cover letter review, PE/FE exam planning, mock interview, general career advice, and general coaching.
Are there any other services you would be interested in? Please fill out this form to help me understand what you are looking for. If you fill out the form I will send you a discount code when the services launch in early 2022. I plan to eventually add some financial and productivity aspects, as well, but I would love to hear ideas from you.
I am looking for a select group of people to kick off these sessions, and as an email subscriber you are first in line to sign up. This would be a paid service in the future, but as a beta tester you would get it for free. I am looking for up to three people (first come, first serve), so please let me know if you are interested either by replying to this email or adding a note on the above form. I only ask for a testimonial to share with others and a short, 15-minute feedback session in return.
I hope you have a great weekend!
PS: I want to reach more people in 2022. This year was an amazing year and I am very excited for all we accomplished together. Could you share the newsletter with one friend that you think would be interested in Engineering our Future? Thank you so much for your support.
📚 Reading -
Stillness is the Key: I just started reading this book by Ryan Holiday and it is just what I needed to end the year. I have really been taking things slow in December with my parents in town and this book is all about slowing down and learning to be still and reflect.
đź‘€ Watching -
Encanto: A couple of weeks ago I went to the movies for the first time in over 4 years. We watched Encanto, which is Disney’s new animated movie. The movie is based on a magical family from the Colombian mountains. It was a lot of fun to bring our son to his first movie.
🤔 Pondering -
In a heated argument, you can always stop and ask, “What evidence would change your mind?” If the answer is “nothing,” then there’s no point in continuing the debate. You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it think.

There are no new episodes of the podcast coming out in December as I am taking a break to recharge my batteries and plan for what is coming next. In the meantime, I am resurfacing some of the most popular episodes of 2021 for you to enjoy before the end of the year.
This week’s episode is Re-run: 039 // Why Taking the PE Exam Made Me a Better Engineer
Also, check out the episode from last week: Re-run: 024 // Developing an Entrepreneurial Mindset Will Make You a Better Engineer with Stephanie Slocum
Most things I do online I do for free. Your generous support allows me to keep the website and podcast running and gives me the opportunity to bring even more value to you. Thank you.

Hey Reader, The end of the year is a great time to reflect on the past year and review your progress. It’s an opportunity to celebrate accomplishments, recognize challenges, and plan for the future. Taking a moment to look back on the year can be incredibly beneficial as it can help you to put things into perspective, gain clarity and make more informed decisions for the future. My wife and I wanted to make it even easier to review the past year, so we decided to come up with a list of key...
Hi Reader, For over four months, I have been working on consolidating what I learned when I took the PE Exam. It has been fun to go back and see at what I learned and how I studied. Today, I am launching a course to help you prepare for the exam. It includes the tools and strategies that I personally used to prepare for the exam. Today I simply wanted to share one of the lessons on time-management from the course. This is just a glimpse into what the whole course covers. When you sign up for...
Hi Reader, It is no secret that these past two years have been hard for all of us. I have been taking some time to reflect and think back at all that has happened and it quickly becomes overwhelming. As many of you, I have been struggling with concentration and that overwhelming feeling of what to do next. This coming week, I will be taking a “personal retreat” to reflect, plan, and have clarity for what is coming next year. When I say personal retreat, I mean working on all of these while...
