Minimum Viable Day

Hello Reader,

The past few weeks have been full of new challenges. It is easy to forget that we are still in a global pandemic, but the reality is that we have been pushing hard for so long that it feels normal. The last almost two years have been challenging in so many ways, and I have truly felt the weight of all of it.

In the past few months, I have felt more anxious than ever before. A lot of times for no reason. It is a debilitating feeling that is hard to explain. Sometimes it feels like a 10 lb weight on my chest or that feeling in your stomach when something is wrong. For weeks I had no motivation to really do anything, and I could not help it.

There are many ways that we as younger professionals can overcome some of these feelings and really excel in all we do. For instance, I recently read an interesting article talking about what they call the “Minimum Viable Day” (MVD). The concept is simple - whenever you feel down, unmotivated, or lacking energy, take a step back and try not to push yourself to the limit.

> The concept of the MVD is simple: On workdays when you’re feeling particularly blah, aim to only get your most important tasks done (think, answering emails from your boss and attending meetings) and save any less important tasks for tomorrow … or the day after that.

Take the time to recover and take care of your mental health. This feeling can really take a toll on what you do, so make sure you fill up your cup before you try to fill other peoples’ cups.

I really enjoyed the episode with Andrea Martin, especially her insight into taking care of ourselves first (Click here for that portion of the interview). As a coach, Andrea understands that it is not always easy juggling the list of daily responsibilities effectively. This is why you must have a structured and practical plan in place to avoid becoming overwhelmed and over-stressed. She has coached 100+ women on enhancing productivity, career development, and decision-making skills to create a more balanced lifestyle.

I hope this short newsletter gives you a nudge to take a break and not overwork yourself. I am one of those people that will work so hard until I completely crash and don’t have the mental strength to continue. I want to leave you with this cool graph that really represents what I just talked about!

Hey Reader, The end of the year is a great time to reflect on the past year and review your progress. It’s an opportunity to celebrate accomplishments, recognize challenges, and plan for the future. Taking a moment to look back on the year can be incredibly beneficial as it can help you to put things into perspective, gain clarity and make more informed decisions for the future. My wife and I wanted to make it even easier to review the past year, so we decided to come up with a list of key...

Today, I am launching a course to help you prepare for the exam. It includes the tools and strategies that I personally used to prepare for the exam. Today I simply wanted to share one of the lessons on time-management from the course. This is just a glimpse into what the whole course covers. When you sign up for...

Hi Reader, It is no secret that these past two years have been hard for all of us. I have been taking some time to reflect and think back at all that has happened and it quickly becomes overwhelming. As many of you, I have been struggling with concentration and that overwhelming feeling of what to do next. This coming week, I will be taking a “personal retreat” to reflect, plan, and have clarity for what is coming next year. When I say personal retreat, I mean working on all of these while...
